Today is Erin's Arashi-anniversary! I wrote a short thing to celebrate because this is important. It IS. I think we should celebrate the things that make us happy. I think it's awesome that she remembers it. ♥

Now, before I get to the fanfic, I want to talk about NON fanfic. starsystems mentioned in her journal that we (as in 'we the people') should do a thing. A 'writes original fiction' thing. It's been a long time since I wrote anything original but I DO miss it sometimes. I may hate writing porn but I loved submitting to bb_shousetsu.

Does anybody else (not you, Meg, I know you do) write original things? Is there anybody else who WANTS to write original things? Should we do a thing? An unofficial, not organzied at all, thing? Is there anybody even interested in reading original works? I'm just thinking out loud here--but expect to see me pondering it at you.

Now, the fic!
(First, a word from our sponsors!)
All I Ever Wanted

ENTER! You know you want to!

Happy Anniversary

"Really?" said Nino incredulously.

"Yes," Jun replied. Then, pointing to the paper spread across the table, "It's already been decided on. We didn't ask you because we knew you'd say no."

Nino narrowed his eyes. "How many times are we going to do this? Revisiting that old thing never goes well. Am I the last sane member?"

"No," Sho said serenely, "Now come over here and help us plan. And wake up Satoshi on your way."

"Oi," Nino said, shaking Ohno roughly as he sat down beside him. "Wake up."

"I'm old," Ohno said pitifully, cracking one eye open. "Why can't I sleep?"

Aiba reached over and patted Ohno's shoulder. "There's a boat, captain," he bolstered him.

Ohno's face wrinkled deeply around his pout. "As long as there's a boat," he said grudgingly, sitting up straighter and opening both eyes. "Where's the boat?"

Nino looked up at the waitress who came to take their order. "Be my witness," he asked her. "They're insane, right? That's enough to have them committed these days, isn't it?"

"Admit it," Sho said two months later, surveying their boat. "You can't drink coffee anymore and this was how you decided to get rid of your stockpile."

"It's a good boat," Aiba said loyally, patting the side of their vacuum-sealed-bags-of-coffee boat. "She'll hold up."

"I can have coffee," Jun snapped, sipping his cup of tea. "I just thought this was a good idea."

"I thought it was a horrible idea from the start," Nino reminded them all. "And it's held together with cling film," he said witheringly to Aiba. "We'll sink before we can get a hundred meters from the dock."

"It's a lot of cling film!" Sho and Jun protested together.

"This year we'll make it," Sho went on. "We'll make it for sure."

"I want to fish off of it," Ohno put in suddenly. "Nino said I could bring my fishing gear."

Aiba hugged Ohno gently. "You can fish, you can fish, Captain, but we all have to row so it can wait until lunch. Or trail out behind us, right?"

"If I get a bite, I'm not rowing," Ohno said stubbornly. "That's important."

"We're going to sink and drown," said Nino despite the fact that everybody was ignoring him. "Do you really want that to be a headline? 'Boyband Drowns in Bay of Coffee'?"

Sho put his hands on his hips. "We can make it!" Then he looked at Jun. "No coffee. I know the doctor told you no more."

Jun grumbled but stopped pulling at the side of the boat. "Tomorrow, we set sail."

"So, here we are," Aiba said to the camera. He turned to pan over the docks and the bay. "Today, we're gonna make it to our goal, the one that's eluded us for—hey, did Nino have a heart attack? Is it a stroke, Nino?"

Nino rolled over on the dock, flopping like a half-dead fish. "I'm fine. I took eight Dramamine."

"How are you going to row like that," Sho asked, struggling with his arm load of paddles. "You're practically unconscious. Satoshi, wake up."

Ohno rolled over beside Nino. "No. I'm old. Why can't I sleep?"

"Because you're going fishing," Jun put in, carrying a cooler chest full of beer. "We're going on the boat today."

Aiba turned the camera back on himself. "Yup, we can do this! It might take a while but—ahhh?"

"Sir?" A dock employee was standing over Nino. "Ojiisama?"

"I told you, I'm not dead," Nino snapped. "And don't you 'ojiisama' me; I probably banged your grandmother."

They all paused, turning that over in their minds.

"Well, what do you want?" Nino demanded petulantly.

"Ah, well, we've put your craft in the water but..."

"It floats," Jun said, "I can see it floating from here."

"Yes, but—according to your manifest, none of you is under the age of eighty-five," the employee said, holding out their contract. "The harbor requires that the pilot of any boat be under—"

"God damn it!" Sho cursed suddenly. "I thought this was ten years ago! Argh! I am so pissed!"

"Calm down, Sho," Jun said. "You don't want to have another heart attack. Who has a grandkid that can spend the day with a bunch of old farts? I can't remember where the hell most of mine live."

Nino rolled over with a groan and put his butt in the air. "I might have one but somebody is going to have to get my phone for me. I'm not sure I'm awake."

"You're awake and you're getting on that boat," Jun told him.

"And also, I think Oh-chan might have died."

"Leader?" Sho shook him.

"I'm old!" Ohno pouted. "And I'm still alive."

"Wait for us, Hatsushima!" Aiba called, waving toward the island.

"That's the parking lot, Masaki-kun," Sho said, turning him around.

Jun patted Ohno's head as Ohno struggled to sit up again. "Got any grandkids around?"

"You're not getting grandkids off of me until I get to be in the boat," Ohno told him.

"That's the spirit," Nino mumbled.

"Wait for us, Hatsushima!"

I'm so lucky to have a friend like you. ♥
Jun. 30th, 2011 11:54 pm (UTC)
I'm so lucky to have YOU. I'm glad it made you laugh. Arashi and boats are the best combination since bread and butter.
Jun. 27th, 2011 03:35 am (UTC)
This is hilarious - them being ojisans and still hanging out and being the boys they still are.

This cheered up my blue Monday! Thanks!
Jun. 30th, 2011 11:55 pm (UTC)
I'm glad it could cheer you up! We all know that Hatsushima haunts them. One day...one day they'll get there!
Jun. 27th, 2011 05:18 am (UTC)
I am actually incredibly interested in trying to do something original, so long as it's an unofficial thing. I might need some organization to keep my brain in check, though. I like planning as much as epicness. ♥
Jun. 30th, 2011 11:56 pm (UTC)
I finally have time to think and talk about non-fandom writing so we'll see what happens!
Jun. 27th, 2011 06:25 am (UTC)
*giggles manically*

This makes me happy. HAPPY.
Jun. 30th, 2011 11:56 pm (UTC)
LOL I'm glad it could make you laugh!
Jun. 27th, 2011 07:58 am (UTC)
See, I was loling at the "I'm old, why can't I sleep" BEFORE I got that they were actually old. For some reason I just did not make that connection until the last bit where you actually described that they're old. I was wondering why on earth anyone would call Nino "ojiisama", and the comment about being old enough to have fucked someone's grandmother DOES NOT help your case, Nino. That makes you old. In any event, this was adorable and SUPER CUTE.

And re: original writing. Um. I've got a three novel epic outlined that I've been working on since the 7th grade. And a billion short stories. And another billion not-so-short stories. Did I mention I also draw maps and have compiled an encyclopedia?

I do lots of original writing. LOL Depending on the project, I might be interested in doing something with people. :3
Jun. 30th, 2011 11:56 pm (UTC)
I have talked to you about both of these things! ♥
Jun. 27th, 2011 08:39 am (UTC)
This fic made me happy ♥
Jun. 30th, 2011 11:57 pm (UTC)
I'm glad it could do that for you! I had a great time writing it. ♥♥ Thank you!
Jun. 27th, 2011 12:53 pm (UTC)
The things that make me happy. You're so awesome I'm giving you a virtual hug. A really vicious one.

"And don't you 'ojiisama' me; I probably banged your grandmother."

Collapsed lung due to laughing too hard might just be acceptable in my death report. <3
Jun. 30th, 2011 11:58 pm (UTC)
I feel hugged! And normally I would say 'don't collapse a lung' except if you DO you might get to meet Aiba. I'M JUST SAYIN'.

Oh god, I love your brain. Also, this fic. Old!crochety!Arashi&hearts And the quest that will never die. &hearts
Jul. 1st, 2011 12:00 am (UTC)
LOL I love YOU! You know Arashi are going to be half-batshit old dudes together. They'll get together and do dumb stuff and then go '...why the hell do we want to relive the time when they only fed us on TV?'. It'll be a thing of beauty. And crazy. Maybe even some ear-hair.
Jun. 28th, 2011 03:01 am (UTC)

Arashi still doin boat experiments and still being dorks even in old age!

(can I channel Buzz Lightyear and say they will still do these things even 'to infinity and beyond'?)

Everyone's older than 85. How old is Leader? I love how his pouts and his proclamation that "I'm old."

And the boat is made of coffee and cling film. XDDD
I miss Odoroki and Sho and Aiba building boats.

I'm glad I stopped by your LJ today.
Jul. 1st, 2011 12:01 am (UTC)
Ohno was saying that he was old during Maou! It's totally cute! I have NO CLUE how old they are in this fic. Probably in their early/mid nineties.

I'm glad you stopped by, too! Because 'to infinity and beyond' is how I like to think of my future!Arashi. Still together and still dumb boys.
Jun. 28th, 2011 03:17 am (UTC)
You've no i idea how much I love this :D
Arashi being old and still together being dorks and still watching out for each other.
I thank you for this. Thanks a lot for this :)
Jul. 1st, 2011 12:02 am (UTC)
LOL Thank you! I'm really glad you liked this and that you liked how they still watched over each other.
Jun. 28th, 2011 07:27 am (UTC)
:D Awesome!

And I'd like to write original fiction, but I haven't in a long long time and never even published anything in this fandom. :/
Jul. 1st, 2011 12:02 am (UTC)
Thank you! And I finally have time now to think about original fiction and writing it. I want to do it but I'm not sure how much or where to post or anything! So! Thinking!
Jun. 29th, 2011 02:12 am (UTC)
It took me reading the whole thing TO GET IT...what can i say, I'm a little slow. LOL.

But this was wonderful. I adore your sense of humor! <3
Jul. 1st, 2011 12:04 am (UTC)
Actually, I was really, really careful to not give away how old they were until the end! The point, for me, was that they're still our Arashi even when they're old and not on television anymore.

I'm happy you liked it!

Thank you so much for this great comment! I'm glad that you liked it, that you liked all the tiny details of Arashi that make them, well, Arashi. It's my dream that Arashi is still...well, that they're still them, still together, even when the music stops and the cameras go away. Dumb boys, doing stupid stuff together just because they can.
Jul. 1st, 2011 06:57 pm (UTC)
This is maybe the third time I've come back to this page to read this in the last day or do. Your fic makes me happy. ♥

Also I love that Arashi's dynamic and behavior is such that you could totally pull the wool over us and not reveal that they're actually in their 80s, because it's completely plausible behavior at any age. XDDD I suppose since Ohno already acts like an ojisan, he's particularly good at helping you to fool us. XDDD

I'm not really in Arashi fandom right now, but this is proof that whenever I'm ready to dip my toes back in again, they'll be there. And I hope you will be too. ♥
Jul. 3rd, 2011 08:57 pm (UTC)
♥ Seriously, Ohno was all 'I'm old!' during Maou-filming and promoting. It was totally cute. Arashi, at any age, will always be our stupid, silly boys. But yes, he DID make it easy on me. It was hilarious because I was all 'and the META is that he is EVIL MUHAHAHA'. I'm glad you liked this.

Even though you are not in the Arashi fandom, I will always consider you to be an Arashi fan and I will always welcome you back to their rainbow-based madness with open arms. May I ask what fandom you're in right now?
Jul. 4th, 2011 01:12 am (UTC)
Oh Ohno, this is why you're my favorite a lot of the time. I love that he whines and everyone ribs him for being old and he plays it up, he's such an evil, sneaky little bastard. I don't know how fandom on the whole doesn't seem to realize this. He's more evil than Nino because he lulls you into complacency first. :P

Thank you. ♥ I just can't keep up with all the things Arashi is doing, but then beckerbell did her Arashi AU Android CM post, and it just sucked me in again. In an entertainment industry full of cool idols, we get Arashi. I love whoever came up with the concepts of those commercials, those are the best, dorkiest things ever. Arashi at any age, growing along with us, is ♥. ^__^

Mm, at the moment the Koreans and Chinese have me, haha. Someone on Becky's flist got me into Super Junior-M, actually, and from there Super Junior. With occasional dips into the rest of SM Town and some other groups. :P It's the complete dork and hysterical variety shows that got me, same as how I got sucked into Arashi, really. Aren't you a bit into the Koreans at the moment too?
Jul. 4th, 2011 02:01 am (UTC)
I'm convinced that Ohno is the mastermind and Nino is his minion. AND NINO DOESN'T KNOW IT.

I actually haven't kept up with Arashi much at all. I MISS them but the most I've done is the concert and music releases. I'm thinking that I should rejoin a comm and get back to watching their shows. Supposedly their 'new' shows have hit their stride (at least in part) and might be worth watching. I miss Shukudai. It was so effortlessly engaging. And I miss Ogura. BUT. I miss my boys. So I think I'm going to try getting back to them.

Super Junior! I can't name all of them! I just love Yesung because he is a creeper. My RP partner plays him so I've watched some of their stuff (oh, man, SuJu can be DICKS to each other--Japan needs Intimate Note). I know SHINee through her as well, so I'm kind of partially into it. Got suggestions? :D

I'm convinced that Ohno is the mastermind and Nino is his minion. AND NINO DOESN'T KNOW IT

*raises hand* I'm down with that and would totally subscribe to your newsletter. ^^

I do miss Arashi. The thing is fandom is all about the HQ now, and my old old computer can't handle HQ videos at all, hangs on them like crazy. ;_; Hasn't Ogura-san guested on a couple of shows with the boys since? I'm so behind the times. We can dip toes back in fandom together! \o/

I think the reason I enjoy Super Junior is because they're like Arashi, they're comfortable enough to be utter bastards with love at each other. Intimate Note with Heechul/Eunhyuk and Sungmin/Kangin was AMAZING.

I'm...not sure what sort of suggestions you're looking for though? I'm actually not super into SJ, but they're the main group that I know about in Kpop fandom. If you're willing to add Chinese into the mix, there's some super entertaining subbed Super Junior-M variety shows around...
Jul. 1st, 2011 09:18 pm (UTC)
ahahahahahahaha GENIUS
Jul. 3rd, 2011 08:55 pm (UTC)
I can claim no genius--that lies within the realm of Arashi and Staff-san, whoever first came up with the idea of adding one rainbow boyband to BATSHIT BOATS. I love whoever brained up this idea. FOREVER. ♥
